Research on high energy density physics is carried out in CEA centers in the greater Paris area and at the Center for Research on Intense Lasers and their Applications, CELIA, in Bordeaux. CEA researchers explore disciplines at the boundary of physics and high-tech applications, from femtosecond lasers and X-ray plasma sources, to XUV harmonic radiation and laser-plasma interaction.
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
