PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAMME

The CEA Eurotalents programme is a European Commission co-funded programme aimed at increasing and facilitating the international mobility of scientists in the following five research domains:

in which leading CEA laboratories contribute at the international level.

Research scientists applying to this action are expected to identify and develop a research training project leading to:

  • increased professional maturity and independence
  • enlarged scientific competencies such as inter/multidisciplinary research and research management skills.

In the context of advanced training and life-long training, the fellowship is expected to be part of a structured, long-term professional development plan that is coherent with past achievements and clearly defines the researcher’s future aims.

* Research actions identified as belonging to the scope of the 'Euratom Treaty' cannot be funded by CEA-Eurotalents.

FUNDED FELLOWSHIP

The programme is set up for the period 2009-2012 and will fund two types of actions:

•  Incoming CEA Fellowships (ICF) to financially support scientists selected by the programme to initiate and carry out an innovative research project in one of the CEA laboratories.
The exact funding period will depend on the length of the research project, but it is expected that around 65 “2-year fellowships” may be funded during the period of the programme,

•  Outgoing CEA Fellowships (OCF) to financially support scientists with a research project in a partner laboratory established outside France and that identifies a CEA laboratory as a return host laboratory after the training period to be funded.
The exact funding period will depend on the length of the research project, but it is expected that around 14 “1-year fellowships” may be funded by the programme.

ASSETS OF CEA

The programme is based on the considerable strength of CEA in a wide variety of scientific and technological fields. It relies on a number of existing research groups of excellence and high-tech platforms located in 9 CEA research centres in France which let CEA benefit of their strong regional identities and partnerships.
